Tenganan Director’s Chair Side Basket

Like any great lead in a film, there is always a supporting role to lift them up into the spotlight, which is why we’ve created the Tenganan Side Basket to be the perfect sidekick to our director’s chair. Built to stow all your set day essentials; notepad, pen, computer or iPad, water bottle and snacks. Stunning woven details, a subtle shape, and the perfect size, this side basket is the ideal co-star to your director’s chair.

Each Tenganan basket is handwoven in the village of Tenganan, Bali using natural Ata reed. The fast-growing Ata reed has to be separated into small, thin strands. Then skilled artisans intricately weave the strands into baskets and woven homewares, working on one basket for up to a month. Once fully woven, the weavings are boiled and left in the sun to dry for a week. Finally, to strengthen the weave, condition the fibers, and leave a natural finish, they are smoked over coconut shell clippings.

We collaborated with directors Bryce Dallas Howard and Claire Thomas to design a capsule collection of director’s chairs with profits going toward FREE THE WORK, a non-profit organization committed to making equity actionable in media — made for maximum comfort, storage, and style. These chairs are just as stylish on set as they are outdoors or inside the home.
